Located in the Viseu district, in the North of Portugal, Tarouca is a small city that can be found near the Douro wine region. Highly known for its Port wine, liqueurs based in regional plants, and huge vineyards dimensions that are known for their aesthetic and unique landscapes. The village counts with 3 500 habitants, but, the overall municipality has almost 9 thousand habitants.

The municipality exists since 2004 and has 100 km². Tarouca region is not only known for its wines, but you can also find beautiful olive groves, vineyards, and apple and pear orchards. In the most mountainous areas, the dominant tree cover is made up of chestnut and oak trees.

Tarouca is the main district in Portugal known for its Sabugueiro flower. The flower is used for a big number of different activities and is specific to this region. The main usage of Sabugueiro is: pharmaceutical industry to dyeing, passing through traditional medicine, sweets, and wine tourism.
